Source Quotes

Friendship is the source of the greatest pleasures, and without friends even the most agreeable pursuits become tedious.
Thomas Aquinas

Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.
Anais Nin

Every beauty which is seen here by persons of perception resembles more than anything else that celestial source from which we all are come.
Michelangelo

Silence is a source of great strength.
Lao Tzu

The only source of knowledge is experience.
Albert Einstein

Source

The title of my blog just came to me and felt right. After I began creating my blog, Clare wanted to know what 'source' means. I then checked the definition of the word source, and am now totally sure it is the perfect name!

Kitchen Table Wisdom

"Life offers its wisdom generously. Everything teaches. Not everyone learns."

"From a good teacher you may learn the secret of listening. You will never learn the secret of life. You will have to listen for yourself"
"The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words. "

Helping, fixing, and serving represent three different ways of seeing life. When you help, you see life as weak. when you fix, you see life as broken. When you serve, you see life as whole. Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul."
— Rachel Naomi Remen

The Guest house - Rumi (1207 - 1248)

Rumi - Guest House

This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

My 'Blog'

Not so long ago, when my teenage daughter asked me if she could set up a blog, my immediate response was 'What's a blog?'
Sarah's blog has served two purposes. It has enabled her to keep a digital record of her wonderful cooking adventures; as well as share her passion for all things 'cooking' with others.
Over the past 18 months I have been given so many wonderful resources relating to personal growth. I hope this blog will allow me to both gather these resources in the one place and share them with others.
Enjoy!
